Registration for the AREMA 2023 Annual Conference in conjunction with Railway Interchange is required for students to participate in AREMA Student Program activities. Signup deadlines for the various student events are provided where applicable.  If you have questions about any of the events, contact the Student Coordinator.

Saturday, September 30

2:30 – 6:30 PM

Amtrak Beech Grove Shops Tour - Tour Full
Students are invited for a tour of the Amtrak Beech Grove Shops. You'll get an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at how Amtrak maintains and services its national long-distance fleet and get to meet the engineers and technicians that make it happen. Transportation and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) will be provided. Participants must wear long pants and sturdy, closed-toed shoes.
 
Space is limited and registration is on a first-come-first-served basis.  Register for the field trip when registering for the AREMA 2023 Annual Conference.

Student Chapter Leadership Working Session
This will be a time for the leadership of each student chapter to get together for a roundtable discussion on AREMA Student Chapters. This will be an opportunity to discuss successes and lessons learned as well as share leadership perspectives and provide ideas and feedback to AREMA on how they can help make the student’s experience through the chapters, AREMA membership, and conference a success. This event is by invitation only. Sign-up deadline is September 22nd.

Students are the future of the railroad industry. Join us for an introduction to the AREMA Conference, covering where, when, and how you'll have access to various opportunities, as well as a refresher on networking strategies. Sign-up is not required for this event.

AREMA Committee 24 Collegiate Quiz Bowl Competition
Test your railroad knowledge in this year’s trivia-style team Quiz bowl competition (see guidelines below). This competition allows each Student Chapter at least one team to participate. Additional teams from a Student Chapter can sign-up on a first-come-first-served waiting list. In addition, there are two Member-At-Large teams. These teams are reserved for individuals that are not members of a Student Chapter but would like to participate. Sign-up is required to participate.  Sign-up deadline is September 22nd.

Tracks to Success: Connecting Professionals with our Industry’s Future & Student Showcase
The AREMA Annual Networking Social provides an opportunity for students and railroad professionals to network with each other during a fun and interactive game. It will be held in conjunction with the “Student Showcase” where you can view students’ research, chapter activities, and other interesting rail-related projects. This year we again will be hosting Railroad Bingo with some fun updates. This event is open to students and professionals.   You do not need to sign up in advance for this event, but sign-up is required for the Student Showcase. See below for more details. 

The Student Showcase will be held in conjunction with the “Tracks to Success: Connecting Professionals with our Industry’s Future” networking social. Students will have the opportunity to share their research, chapter activities, projects, hobbies, etc. in an interactive display. These displays are intended to provide participants with the ability to connect with other students and professionals while engaging in discussions regarding their displays. Participation can be on an individual or group basis. See the guidelines for additional information. Sign-up is required to participate by September 22nd.
