All students that wish to participate in AREMA Student Program activities are required to register for the AREMA 2024 Annual Conference & Expo. Signup deadlines for the various student events are provided where applicable.  If you have questions about any of the events, contact the Student Coordinator.


Student Resume Review for the Meet the Next Generation Networking Session

This year, Committee 24 is offering resume review services to students who submit their resumes for the Meet the Next Generation Networking Session. Submit your resume by August 19th to take advantage of this opportunity.

Saturday, September 14

2:00 – 6:00 PM

Tour with the Louisville & Indiana Railroad Company
AREMA Student Members are invited for a tour of the Louisville & Indiana Railroad Company (LIRC) headquarters and rail yard. You will get an exclusive, behind-the-scenes look at how this shortline railroad serves its customers and interchanges with other railroads. You will also have the opportunity to get up close and personal with some railroad industry equipment. Transportation will be provided from the Kentucky International Convention Center. Participants must wear long pants and sturdy, closed-toed shoes.

Space is limited. A $5 non-refundable registration fee is required.

Student Chapter Leadership & Advisors Working Session
This will be a time for the AREMA Student Chapter leadership and advisors to get together for a roundtable discussion. We will discuss successes, lessons learned, share perspectives, and provide ideas and feedback to AREMA on ways they can help make the students’ experience through the chapters, AREMA membership and conference, a success. The session will include breakouts for student leaders and advisors to facilitate discussions. This event is invitation only. RSVP by September 8th.

Students are the future of the railroad industry. Join us for an introduction to the AREMA Conference, covering where, when, and how you'll have access to various opportunities. Lunch will be provided.

Networking 101 – How to Realize a Return on Your Networking Investment

A captivating event to set you up for success, led by Keith Bailey, Articulated Intelligence, offers activities to boost confidence, reduce anxiety, and define goals. Participants learn techniques for seamless conversation entry and exit, crafting unique self-introductions, and asking thought-provoking questions. Post-networking, they discover how to nurture relationships for lasting connections and professional growth.

2:30 – 4:00 PM

AREMA Committee 24 Collegiate Quiz Bowl Competition
Test your railroad knowledge in this year’s trivia-style Quiz Bowl competition. This competition allows each Student Chapter at least one team to participate. Additional teams from a Student Chapter can sign up on a first-come, first-serve waiting list. Two Member-At-Large teams are reserved for individuals who are not members of a Student Chapter but would like to participate.

Sign up during the Student Program from 11:00 am – 2:15 pm at the Quiz Bowl registration table located outside the room.
